The Vote: A virtual discussion

Join LWVJoCo members for a virtual discussion after watching The Vote. The film explores how and why millions of 20th-century Americans mobilized for and against women’s suffrage and the deep controversies over gender roles and race that divided Americans then and continue to dominate political discourse today. The Vote airs on PBS on July 6 and 7, and the virtual discussion takes place on July 8 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Stay engaged
  • All members are invited to cast a vote for the 2020 LWV National Convention Awards. The awards will reflect the League's goals of strengthening democracy for all, partnering with our communities through a diverse, equitable and inclusive lens, and using the power of storytelling in a variety of ways. Voting is open through June 23.
  • LWV offers several resources to support our League's efforts to become more inclusive and to educate ourselves on diversity, equity and inclusion. Check out the webinars and other resources.

  • LWV of Wichita is hosting an online conversation with Lt. Gov. Rogers about rural voting on July 8. Members throughout the state are encouraged to send any questions they would like included in the discussion to kansasstatekate@gmail.com as soon as possible. We'll share more details about the event in upcoming emails.
  • We need YOU to help get people to the polls. Only a dozen members have joined our Voter to Voter team. Email Jill Quigley  to find out how you can use your influence in your personal circles to engage voters.

  • Who is Wendy Wilson and why did she join LWVJoCo? Find out more about Wendy and other members in our June newsletter.
