With the current situation in our country, many of our LWV of Johnson County members have been asking and looking for ways to get involved. The League's overall purpose is to "Empower Voters and Defend Democracy"
Let's get to work by making signs to use in a future demonstration at a high visibility, public venue in Johnson County. We don't have a date for the first of many demonstrations planned yet, but it will be VERY soon. The space we're currently discussing is on the corner of 95th and Quivera, by the Oak Park Mall.
In order to reflect the policies of the LWVUS, we need to make signs that will stay true to our NON PARTISAN, but POLITICAL stance. So we can feel like we are doing something, we are offering the chance to work together to make posters that can be used at our demonstration. We will have specific guidelines to follow to allow us to express our sentiments, but retain our non profit status.
If you are interested in helping make posters, we are having a poster making event at one of our member's houses (located in O.P.) on Saturday, March 15 from 1-3 p.m. We ask that you send your RSVP to the vicepresident@lwvjoco.org email. You will receive the address for the event after you let us know you are coming. We will have to limit the number of participants to 25 due to space availability. If we reach capacity of volunteers, please know that we will be anticipating your presence at the upcoming protest!!
